jack sherman

Congratulations to Jack Sherman who was selected by our staff as our RVMS Student of the month. Jack was honored at the Jan. 11th school board meeting where he was presented with a certificate from the board of education.

Student Drop off and Pick up etiquette – Parents, please adhere to the school expectations when picking up and dropping off students.

  • When in the front driveway, please pull all the way up, thus allowing more vehicles to enter
  • If the car in front of you leaves, please move forward.
  • If you are picking your student up from school prior to the end of the school day, you must come in to the office and check the student out. It is not permitted to honk in front of the school and have your student get in your vehicle without properly checking out.

Students should not be texting parents to have them come pick them up.  These exchanges should always take place in the front office so we, as a staff, can be kept informed of the situation.

Homework club- This is just a reminder that we offer homework club ever Tuesday and Thursday from 3:10-4:10 in our library.  There are always teachers available to assist your students with any homework they may have.

Traveling during the school year? – If so, and if you are planning on requesting class/homework, please be advised that you should email your student’s teachers directly.  They will gladly give you the work upon the students return.  The student will have as many days to make up the work as they were away.  Please be advised that teachers cannot be expected to give the work beforehand.

Showcase Wednesday Feb. 15th @ 6:00 -7:30– “Open House” for the future 7th and 8th Grade students and parents. Please pass this information along to anyone you think might benefit from this information. This is not a night for you, if your child already attends RVMS.  This is a night designed to show our new incoming students the electives available as well an opportunity to turn in registration packets. Carpool if you can; parking space is limited.

Rincon Valley Career Day March 29- Social Advocates for Youth is contracted with Santa Rosa City School District to provide work-based learning at all Santa Rosa City Schools high schools. They are now expanding their efforts to include middle schools to coordinate a career day for all 8th grade students.  This day is going consist of a keynote speaker, a career fair with businesses tabling, and breakout sessions.   The purpose of this day is to expose students to potential career paths, share academic opportunities available, connect students with parents and community partners, and provide resources that support career goals and attainment.

WHAT WE NEED

Businesses to Table: People interested in representing their business and tabling at the Career Fair. Since our audience is 8th graders, we would love for you to be as interactive as possible.  Does your company make a product; bring it in all stages of productions.  Are you working with blueprints, bring them as well.  Anything students can see or even hold is encouraged.

Guest Speakers–  Do you work in the sports or medical industries?  Are you willing to come in and speak to a class about your profession? We would love to have speakers from all professions come in to share their stories. If you are available, please contact Assistant Principal, Amy Sather at 528-5038.

ADDITIONAL WAYS TO GET INVOLVED

Volunteer: If you do not have a business to represent or you would just like to take part in the Career Day, you are welcome to volunteer for the day to ensure everything runs as smooth as possible.

Mock Interviews: Are you an HR professional or do you have experience in hiring? Assist in conducting one on one mock interviews for students.  You will be given a pool a questions to choose from.  You are welcome to give feedback to students.
